A gas engineer follows a voice to a locked room — and finds nobody there.
A gas engineer was called to a property after a neighbour reported smelling gas. He found the front door open and went inside. He shouted to see if anyone was home. That's when he heard a voice — clearly an elderly woman — calling from upstairs. "Come in. Come in."
He followed the voice up. But there was nobody there. Just one locked bedroom door. He called Adam, who in turn called the police before doing anything else, given the possibility someone was injured inside.
When officers arrived, Adam slipped the lock and they opened the door together. The room was empty. They searched the property. Nobody was there.
Sound travels unpredictably through old houses. A radio left on in a neighbouring property, a draught carrying noise through a chimney or stairwell, or even an auditory trick under stress — a frightened person in an unfamiliar situation is primed to interpret ambiguous sound as speech directed at them.
The detail that's hard to dismiss is the specificity. Not a vague noise or a creak, but words — intelligible, directed, spoken in a way the engineer understood as addressed to him — coming from a room that turned out to be locked and empty. If it genuinely was a voice, no ordinary source has been identified.
This is the case that started the GhostHauntUK evidence files. Adam was called in professionally, not as an investigator. The voice wasn't expected, looked for, or in any way set up. Whatever was in that room, it wasn't anyone from this world.
We don't claim that every unexplained event is paranormal. Every case in the GhostHauntUK evidence files is assessed using the same format: what happened, what can be verified, possible conventional explanations, and only then whether anything remains unexplained.

❓ InconclusiveSix witnesses. A heavy door that opened and slammed on its own. Nothing mechanical to explain it.
